    Tube Bundles Key Design Features


    The design of a tube bundle is a complex engineering task that balances thermal performance, mechanical integrity, pressure drop, material cost, and maintenance requirements.

    1.Tube Layout and Arrangement

    This refers to how the tubes are positioned within the shell, which significantly impacts heat transfer efficiency, cleaning accessibility, and pressure drop.

    Layout Patterns:Triangular (or Rotated Square) (30°) / Square (90°) / Rotated Square (45°).


    2. Heat Exchanger Tubes

    The physical characteristics of the tubes themselves are fundamental to performance.


    3.Baffle Design

    Baffles are plates placed in the shell to direct shell-side flow across the tube bundle. They are critical for controlling flow, pressure drop, and preventing tube vibration.

    Types of Baffles: Segmental Baffle (Single, Double, Triple) / Orifice Baffle  / Rod Baffle / Helical Baffle / Longitudinal Flow Baffle (No Baffles).


    4.Tube-to-Tubesheet Joint

    This is a critical mechanical and leak-proof connection where the tubes are joined to the stationary and/or floating tubesheets.Expansion / Welding / Both all.
